Secretary, Ministry of Information

Md. Mokbul Hossain joined as Secretary in Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on 31 May 2021. Prior to joining the post he was working as Registrar in the office of Joint Stock Companies and Firms. He also worked as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Textiles and Jute.

He joined Bangladesh Civil Services in 1991 as an officer of 10th batch of BCS (Administration) cadre. He worked in field administration for most of his working life. In Field Administration, he acted as Assistant Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner (Land), 1st Class Magistrate, Upazila Nirbahi Officer, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Chief Executive Officer, zila parishad; Director, Department of Environment and Member (Land and Asset Management), National Housing Authority.

He obtained Honors Degree in Agricultural Economics from Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh and Post Graduate Degree in Business Administration. Apart from training in various training institutes in Bangladesh, he also received abroad training on government orders. He has also visited the USA, Japan, South Korea, China, Germany, Vietnam, Turkey, Egypt, Sri Lanka and the Maldives for official purposes.

Md. Mokbul Hossain was born in a place, full of memories of King Rajballave’s Ballavepur village under Kumarkhali police station of  Kushtia district. He was involved in sports and cultural activities from his childhood. Volleyball and Tennis are his favorite sports. He participated in the inter-university volleyball competition as a member of the volleyball team of Bangladesh Agricultural University.

In private life he is married. His family consists of his wife Israt Jahan Nina and daughters Fairuj Tahsin Rodshi and Farah Tasnim Rodela.
