Programmes implemented to improve quality of education: Nahid

DHAKA, Oct 4, 2018 (BSS) – Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid today said
the government has implemented various infrastructural development programmes
to ensure quality of education.

“In the past 10 years, we have made huge infrastructural development for
expansion and improving quality of education,” he told the inaugural function
of development works at the Govt. Bangla College at Mirpur in the city, an
official release said.

Local lawmaker Md Aslamul Haque, Acting Director General of Directorate of
Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Prof Mohammad Shamsul Huda, Chief
Engineer of Department of Education Engineering Dewan Mohammad Hanjala and
teachers, among others, addressed the function with Principal of the college
Prof Md Imam Hossain in the chair.

Nahid said, “The government has constructed 30,771 buildings from 2009 to
2018 for ensuring congenial atmosphere at educational institutions.
Construction of some buildings at different educational institutions are
underway.”

In a technology-based globalised world, quality education is crucial for
any country, he said adding, the government has realised the fact and
executed its plans accordingly.

Nahid said despite a number of challenges, Bangladesh has some remarkable
and praiseworthy achievements in the education sector.

Distribution of free textbook among the students of primary and secondary
levels, increased enrolment rate and eradicating gender inequality in primary
and secondary education have already been acknowledged in different
international forums, he added.

“To maximize the benefit of using ICT in a classroom, we need a bunch of
trained, motivated and technology-friendly teachers who will make the whole
process effective and successful,” the minister said, adding the government
is providing training to enhance the capacity of teachers.
