Development fair kicks off in Khulna
KHULNA, October 4, 2018 (BSS) – The 4th Development Fair began at Khulna
Circuit House Ground today morning aimed at showcasing the development
activities of the government.
With the theme ‘Indomitable Bangladesh in Advancement of Development’,
the fair will showcase the government’s development activities and
achievements made in the last 10 years.
Organised by Khulna district administration, the fair will continue till
October 6. The fair will open from 9:00am to 8:00pm everyday. A total of 156
government and non-government stalls have been set up on the fair ground.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the three-day Fair across the
country, including Khulna around 10am today through videoconference from her
official residence, Ganobhabon in the capital city Dhaka.
Fisheries and Live Stock Minister Naryan Chandra Chanda was present the
function as the chief guest while KCC Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque,
Parliament members Begum Monnuzan Sufian and Mizanur Rahman Mizan, Additional
Secretary of Establishment Ministry Sheikh Yousuf Harun, Khulna Divisional
Commissioner Lokman Hossain Mia, Khulna Metropolitan Police Commissioner
Humayun Kabir, Additional DIG of Khulna Range Police Habibur Rahman, Police
Super S M Shafiullah and Freedom Fighter Prof Alamgir addressed as special
guests.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Helal Hossain chaired the function.
The chief guest Narayan Chandra Chanda said country marches forward in
development highway.
He said neglected south-western region now about turn in development
highway. Mongla Port, the second largest port of the country, is now active
and profitable and construction of Rampal airport is now under processing.
Terming Bangladesh is role model of development, he said, the present
government is working relentlessly to make Bangladesh a middle income country
by 2021 and develop country by 2041 led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Earlier, a colourful procession was brought out from Shaheed Hadis Park
that ended at Circuit House ground after parading important city streets.
A theme song of Development Fair and historical 7 March speech of
Bangabandhu were played during the inauguration.
