BNP conspiring over next general election: Quader

DHAKA, Oct 03, 2018 (BSS) – Awami League (AL) General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today charged BNP with conspiring over the next parliamentary polls as the party is fearing defeat in the election.

“They are trying to find a way out to boycott the nation election because of huge popularity of Awami League,” he told a leaflet-distribution function in New Market area as part of the party’s week-long election campaign.

Joint Secretary of AL Abdur Rahman, MP, AL Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud, MP Labour Affairs Secretary Habibur Rahman Siraj and Information and Research Secretary Advocate Afzal Hossain, among others, addressed the function with President of New Market Thana unit of AL Md Jasim Uddin in the chair.

Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh also was present at the function.

Quader said the general election will be held whether BNP would participate in the polls or not. The upcoming parliamentary election will be held in a festive mood even if BNP boycotts the polls, he added.

BNP is plotting to perpetrate destructive activities in the name of movement for foiling the national election, Quader said adding the people of the country would resist their conspiracy for continuation of democratic process in the country.
