Nasim urges OIC to play active role for Rohingya repatriation

DHAKA, Oct 03, 2018 (BSS) – Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammed Nasim today urged the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to play an active role for hastening Rohingya repatriation.

“OIC should play a pivotal role for repatriation of the Rohingya people, who were forced to flee their country, Myanmar, to our country for the barbaric torture of their government,” he said.

Nasim said this at a meeting with the envoy of Iran Abbas Veizi Dehnnvi at his ministry at Secretariat in the city, said a press release.

He said the OIC should also work to save the tortured Muslims across the world.

Nasim, also the presidium member of Awami League, said, “Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina, ‘Mother of Humanity’ has given shelters around ten lakh Rohingyas in Bangladesh with her motherly affection, on humanitarian ground and providing them with accommodation, food and medical supports.”

Following her (PM’s) direction, Nasim said, the health ministry is providing the maximum possible medical services to the refugees “within the limited resources considering it a humanitarian issue”, but it is not possible to serve them for long.

He praised leaders of different countries, including the PM, for taking initiatives to repatriate them.

State Minister of the ministry Zahid Maleque and Secretary of Health Services Division M Serajul Huq Khan were present, among others.
