SYLHET, Oct 3, 2018 (BSS)- Palestine will start their Bangabandhu
International Gold Cup Football tournament when they face Tajikistan in their
group A opening match scheduled to be held tomorrow (Thursday) at Sylhet
District Stadium in Sylhet.
State-owned Bangladesh Television telecast the match live that kicks off at
6.30 pm.
Tajikistan already one step far from the semi-final after beating defending
champions Nepal by 2-0 goals in their group opening match.
This is the first time middle east country Palestine are taking part in the
prestigious tournament with tag top of ranking among the participating teams.
Palestine placed at 100th place in FIFA ranking while Tajikistan ranked at
120.
In the head to head, the two sides met in friendly matches. The first match
was ended 1-1 draw held Hebron on October 6 in 2016 while the return match
was held on November 5 in Dushanbe, Tajikistan where the match ended 3-3
goals draw.
Palestine team’s coach Noureddine Ould Ali said they have come here to win
the title of the tournament and hoped to be a contesting match against
Tajikistan.
He said they have good preparation for the tournament and played six
practice matches before taking part in the tournament.
The Palestine skipper Mohammad Basem said they would give their best to win
the match against Tajikistan and hoped to present a good football.
