Media urged to highlight govt’s massive development works

RANGPUR, Oct 3, 2018 (BSS) – Officials and political leaders at a press
conference here today urged the mass media to properly highlight the massive
development works implemented by the present government in last 10 years.

They made the call at the event arranged to discuss preparations of a
three-day “Development Fair-2018” to be inaugurated tomorrow by Prime
Minsiter Sheikh Hasina through a videoconferencing from Ganabhaban here as
elsewhere at all district and upazila headquarters in the country.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Enamul Habib briefed on programmes of the fair in
the press conference organised by the district administration at the DC’s
conference room.

The Additional Deputy Commissioners, Senior District Information Officer
Humayun Kobir, Acting President of district Awami League Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed,
its Office Secretary Tauhidur Rahman Tutul and city unit General Secretary
Tushar Kanti Mandal, among others, were present.

The DC said, “Most of the local top officials will attend the development
fair on Pirganj Government Girls’ School ground as the Prime Minister is
expected to inaugurate the fair and talk to people there tomorrow through the
videoconferencing.”

However, the district level development fair will be inaugurated by high
officials on the Public Library ground in the city after bringing out of a
huge colourful rally on the streets.

“The main objective of arranging the fair is to showcase the government’s
massive successes achieved in last 10 years before grassroots level people as
the country has already achieved the criteria to become a developing nation
by 2024,” he said.

The DC discussed relentless efforts of the Prime Minister in accelerating
national advancement on the highway of development to build a happy and
prosperous ‘Sonar Bangla’ as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

“Some 101 government and non-governmental organisations, other
institutions, business bodies, industries and private sector entrepreneurs
will set up 127 stalls on the fairground to showcase their respective
innovations and development achievements,” he said.

In the fair, local public representatives, political leaders and officials
will exchange views on local problems, inform people about 10 special
initiatives of the Prime Minister and future development plans, successes
achieved in implementing MDGs and inspiring the people to attain the SDGs and
common people will also get various services being provided by the government
using digital facilities.

The speakers will discuss various international recognitions, successes and
awards achieved by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, information technologies,
Bangabandhu Satellite, mega projects, economic zones, hi-tech parks, Visions
2021 and 2041 and other achievements of the present government in the fair.

“Besides, seminars, competitions on debate, essay writing and drawing,
screening of videos and documentary films, reality shows on open quiz, acting
and rendering songs as well as cultural programmes will be arranged daily in
the fair,” the DC added.
