BATA donates Tk 83 lakh to BLWF
DHAKA, Oct 2, 2018 (BSS) – Bata Shoe Company (Bangladesh) Limited today
donated Taka 83 lakh to Bangladesh Labour Welfare Foundation (BLWF).
A three-member Bata delegation led by its managing director Chitpan
Kanhasiri handed over the cheque to State Minister for Labour and Employment
Md. Mujibul Haque at the latter’s secretariat office here in the capital.
“Raising the fund for Bangladesh Labour Welfare Foundation under labour
act for the welfare of the labourers was an outstanding step taken by the
government. Under this act, employees at the end of the year receive equally
eighty percent of the five percent total profit their company makes annually.
Of the rest 20 percent dividend, ten percent is deposited to BLWF,” the state
minister said.
Md Mujibul Haque said the BLWF fund contains Taka 312 crore at the
moment, which is being used to provide financial assistance to families of
labourers, who were killed in work place accidents, losing their limbs, and
as education assistance to their children.
Director general of BLWF Dr Anisul Awal, Bata Shoe Company general
manager (finance) Hashim Reza and general manager (HR) Syed Jahidul Islam,
were present on the occasion, among others.
