Bangladesh beat Hong Kong by 5-wicket in U-19 Asia Cup

DHAKA, Oct 2, 2018 (BSS)- Bangladesh recorded their second victory in the
ACC U-19 Asia Cup as they beat Hong Kong by five wickets in their third and
final group B match on Tuesday at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in
Chittagong.

With this win, the junior Tigers sealed a second place in Group B and will
meet India in the semifinal on October 4.

Put to bat first by Bangladesh, Hong Kong were bundled out for 91 runs in
45.5 overs with Rishad Hossain once again bagging three wickets, this time
conceding just 11 runs in 7.5 overs.

The leg-spinner had also bagged three wickets in Bangladesh’s victory over
Pakistan in their second group match against Pakistan.

Mrittunjoy Chowdhury and Rakibul Hasan bagged two wickets apiece in their
fantastic economical spells. However, the junior Tigers started their chase
badly losing early wickets as Nasrulla Rana of Hong Kong captured three
wickets in the same over.

Wicket-keeper batsman Akbar Ali hammered 19-ball off 25 runs while
Mahmudul Hasan Joy blasted an unbeaten 20-ball off 32 as the home side chased
down the target in just 11.2 overs losing five wickets.

In the day’s other match, Sri Lanka beat Pakistan by 23 runs in their
group B encounter held at MA Aziz Stadium in Chittagong.

Forced to bat first by Pakistan, Sri Lanka were all out for 200 in 49.4
overs with Kalana Perera making 51 runs.

Arshad Iqbal was the pick of Pakistan bowler as he grabbed six wickets
conceding 34 runs. He was well supported by Bilal Javed who bagged two
wickets giving away 25 runs.

In reply, Pakistan found the chase stiff and eventually was dismissed at
177 for 8 in 50 overs with AwaizZafar top scoring 43 runs.

ND Paranavithana, DN Wellalage and SMKS Senarathne took two Pakistani
wickets for 27, 28 and 32 runs respectively.
