DHAKA, Oct 2, 2018 (BSS) – Two workers were killed and 20 others injured in
a blast and fire at National Fan factory at BSCIC industrial area in Gazipur
city this morning.
“The blast took place in hit chamber machine in the factory with a loud
bang, causing a fire. A unit of Tongi Fire Service and Civil Defence rushed
to the place and brought the fire under control around 12.30 pm,” Duty
Officer Atikur Rahman of Tongi Fire Service told BSS.
Local people with Tongi police joined the rescue operation and took the
injured to Tongi Ahsan Ullah Master General Hospital.
“Many injured were brought to our hospital. Of them, two workers die of
their wounds. We sent eight workers, who were injured seriously, to hospitals
in Dhaka. Others were released after giving primary treatment,” Dr Masud Rana
of Tongi Ahsan Ullah Master General Hospital said.
Identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.
