ACC conducts raid on Fakirapool WASA office

DHAKA, Sept 30, 2018 (BSS)-The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) today carried out a sudden drive at the WASA office in Fakirapool area of the capital following allegations of corruption.

“There are huge irregularities in governing Dhaka WASA. It is a must to stop the irregularities to make the services of the organization standard. The ACC will continue its drive for ensuring welfare of the people,” said ACC enforcement drive coordinator and Director General (admin) Mohammad Munir Chowdhury.

A six-member team conducted the drive after ACC received allegations of irregularities through ACC hotline 106 over distribution of water.

The ACC team found instead of WASA employees outsiders were operating the pumps disobeying the rules. The pump operators are supplying water in lieu of money.

Consumers made allegations to the ACC team that the meter readers were not preparing due WASA bills for water in exchange of money from businessmen and industrialists.

The team also found that the revenue inspectors of WASA were preparing bills without checking meters resulting in receiving by consumers of bills with amount beyond expectations.
