DHAKA, Sept 30, 2018 (BSS)- Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Mortaza praised his boys outstanding performance in the Asia Cup and at the same time he urged his boys to take the fighting spirit, mentality and effort in the future events.

The way the boys played, of course, it was outstanding but it will rather disappointed for him if he fail to find the same mentality or efforts from his boys in future, Mashrafe told the reporters on Saturday after returning from the Asia Cup venue in Dubai.

Mortaza said he was “disappointed” that Bangladesh had slipped again. But he urged his men to take the fighting spirit they showed in the Asia Cup final into their next fixtures.

The Tigers were praised for their spirited showing in the Asia up final on Friday against India, who clinched a nail-biting three wickets in a last-ball thriller.

The Narail express said his team must overcome a “mental block” in order to earn victory in crucial games after Bangladesh lost their third international final this year.

Replying to Bangladesh’s modest 222, India earned victory only through a leg-bye off the final ball to secure their seventh Asia Cup title. “For some reason, it’s not happening. If we can do it once, maybe it will be easier,” Mortaza said.

“Of course there is some mental block as winning a tournament is important to overcome this hurdle, he added”.

The Tigers lost to Sri Lanka in a tri-nation one-day international final in January before falling short against India in a Twenty20 tournament decider in March.

The speedster said he was disappointed as his side had slipped again. But he urged his men to take the fighting spirit they showed in the Asia Cup final into their next fixtures.

“There is no scope to say that we are happy after losing… we lacked many things, still we wanted to win it,” he said.

Bangladesh’s next opportunity will come in October and November, when the Tigers host Zimbabwe for three one-day internationals and two Test matches.
