162 to vie for each seat in JU

SAVAR, Sep 29, 2018 (BSS) – The admission tests for the first year honors
courses under the academic session 2018-19 in Jahangirnagar University (JU)
will begin tomorrow with the A unit test under Mathematical and Physical
Sciences faculty.

Around 162 admission seekers are going to vie for each seat in the upcoming
admission tests.

In this year, a total of 30,62,74 admission seekers will contest for only
1889 seats under 6 faculties and 3 institutes, JU Deputy Registrar
(Education-1) Abu Hasan told BSS today.

“The number of admission seekers have increased to 7,101 compared to the
previous year while a total of 97 seats have been reduced under different
faculties and institutes’, he said.

“We have already completed the online application process successfully
earlier. Now we are taking preparation for holding admission tests’, he
added.

According to the admission test managing committee, Biological Sciences
faculty (D Unit) gets a total of 71,151 applications which is the height
number of applications among the faculties.

Besides, 62,215 admission seekers has applied in Physical Sciences Faculty
(A Unit), 33891 in Social Sciences faculty (B Unit), 55234 in Arts and
Humanities faculty (C Unit), 18744 in Business Studies Faculty (E Unit),
31242 in Law Faculty (F Unit), 9199 in Institution of Business Administration
(G unit), 17667 in Institution of Information Technology (H Unit) and 7231 in
Bangabandhu Institute of Comparative literature and Culture (I Unit) for
upcoming intake tests.

Whaiduzzaman of Institute of Information Technology said, “Primarily a total
of 322946 admission seekers registered online for taking part in the
admission test.”

“All necessary information including seat plans and results will be
available at the university’s admission related website https://ju-
admission.org/,” he added.

Meanwhile, the university authority has taken all sorts of preparations to
conduct the admission tests successfully.

‘We have taken all preparations so that the admission seekers can attend
their exams without any hassle. We will try to ensure adequate security on
the campus to avoid any unwanted incident, JU Proctor Associate Professor
Shikdar Md Zulkarnine said.

The admission tests will continue till October 10.
