AL to remain alert against BNP-Jamaat’s violence: Quader
DHAKA, Sept 28, 2018 (BSS) – Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said his party will remain alert against all sorts of violence and anarchy to be unleashed by BNP-Jamaat across the country, including the capital.
“Because of thrust for power, BNP has become crazy and therefore, they are talking nonsense…They are dreaming to take over the field in October. But it will never happen as the activists of Awami League will remain alert against all sorts of violence of BNP-Jamaat,” he said, speaking at a function in front of Bangabandhu Bhaban in city’s Dhanmondi.
AL Relief and Social Welfare sub-committee organized the function to distribute rickshaws and rickshaw vans among the poor people marking the 72nd birthday of AL chief Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina with the sub-committee Chairman AFM Fakhrul Islam Munsi in the chair.
Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, said, “We don’t hold any counter programme against BNP. But the countrymen will give a proper reply if anyone tries to create unrest and violence in the country.”
He said BNP has turned into a dead river for their negative politics. Tide will never come in their dead river, he added.
The ruling party general secretary said the people of the country are now in election mood. They have no mentality of movement. Therefore, the mass people of the country are now getting preparations for voting, he added.
Quader said the people have no dissatisfaction. They are happy with the development activities of the government. But, BNP has dissatisfaction centering the power. They want to loot the people after going to power again, he added.
The minister said, “We will campaign against terrorism and anarchy and in favour of development and achievement in the month of October. We will seek votes to the common people for ‘Boat’, the electoral symbol of AL. We would not declare any counter programme against BNP.”
Quader urged the AL leaders and activists to take oath on the day of Sheikh Hasina’s birthday to defeat all fundamentalist evil forces.
He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina established the country as a role model before the world through her dynamic leadership.
The AL leader said the world leaders praised the extraordinary leadership of Bangladesh premier Sheikh Hasina in the United Nations General Assembly. They (world leaders) also expected continuation of the present government, he added.
Quader distributed 100 rickshaws and rickshaw vans among the poor people in the function.
Later, AL Swechasebak League and Mohila Awami League jointly organized a doa and milad mahfil seeking a healthy and long life of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
AL Joint General Secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif addressed the programme as special guest while AL Cultural Affairs Secretary Ashim Kumar Ukil and AL city South unit General Secretary Shahe Alam Murad also spoke.
