Stocks close week down
DHAKA, Sept 27, 2018 (BSS) – Stocks finished the week down on Thursday
with falling trend of all major price indices at Dhaka and Chittagong Stock
Exchanges as the daily transactions declined amid volatility in large-cap
securities.
The broader DSEX of the DSE finished the week with 124.16 points down at
5,342.89. The blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES also followed the same trend
with 16.17 points down at 1,884.83 and with 25.49 points down at 1,230.02
respectively.
Out of the 346 issues traded at the DSE, 71 gained against 257 losing
issues. During the week, the daily average trade value declined by nearly 26
percent to Tk 569.96 crore and the average trade volume fell by 28.13 percent
to 12.79 crore shares when majority of the traded issues closed up.
The top five gainers of the week were Republic Insurance, Pioneer
Insurance, Phoenix Insurance, Dhaka Insurance and Marico Bangladesh.
The major losing issues of the week were Evince Textile, Central
Pharmaceuticals, Mozaffar Hossain Spinning Mills, Al Haj Textile Mills and RN
Spinning Mills.
The top five turnover leaders were Khulna Power Company, United Power
Generation and Distribution Company, IFAD Autos, Shasha Denims and Active
Fine Chemicals.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the week down, with its major
CASPI index ending 446.22 points lower at 16441.08.
