Stocks rebound on both bourses

DHAKA, Sept 25, 2018 (BSS) – After witnessing a downward trend in the last
three consecutive sessions, stocks rebounded on Tuesday in the Dhaka and
Chittagong stock exchanges as investors remained active on sector-wise
issues.

But the turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, and trade volume
witnessed a fall on the day in the DSE.

The broader DSEX of DSE closed the day with 29.34 points up at 5,386.89.
The blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with
8.23 points up at 1,891.69 and with 7.60 points up at 1,241.10 respectively.

At the DSE, out of the day’s 334 securities, prices of 153 securities
closed higher against 140 losing issues while 41 remained unchanged.

Turnover came down to Taka 487.97 crore from Monday’s Taka 580.08 crore on
the DSE and the daily trade volume also dropped to 11.12 crore shares from
Monday’s 12.41 crore shares.

The top five gainers were Global Insurance, Republic, Intech, FEKDIL and
Nitol Insurance while the top five losers were ETL, IFIC1STMF, Central PHL,
SIMTEX and Emerald Oil.

KPCL topped the turnover list followed by Ifad Autos, Active Fine, Shasha
Denims and National Life Insurance.

In the port city, CSE also closed higher with its major CASPI 89.51 points
up at 16,581.09. A total of 231 issues were traded at the CSE. Of those, 100
closed higher and 100 closed lower while 31 remained unchanged.

A total of 3.58 crore shares and mutual fund issues changed hands for Taka
98.22 crore.
