Art exhibition begins at DU Fine Art Faculty

DHAKA, Sept 24, 2018 (BSS) – Annual art exhibition of Dhaka University’s
Ceramics Department began today at Zainul Gallery of Fine Art Faculty on the
campus.

A total of 80 art works from 42 students of Ceramics Department are being
displayed in the exhibition. Eight students were awarded for the best art
works on the first day of the expo.

DU Vice-Chancellor Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the exhibition as
the chief guest today with Chairperson of Ceramics Department Associate
Professor Devasish Paul in the chair.

While addressing the programme, Prof Akhtaruzzaman said pottery is an
important element of civilization.

The elite people of the society should come forward to develop and excel
this industry, he said, adding, “The students of Ceramics Department will be
able to represent this industry in a more modern way with their artistic
qualities and creativity.”

Chairman of Drawing and Painting Department Shishir Kumer Battacharja and
Convener of the exhibition programme Professor Md. Rabiul Islam also spoke on
the occasion.

Fine Art Faculty Dean Professor Nisar Hossain and Engineer Mainul Abedin
were present as the guests of honor.

The exhibition will continue until September 29. It will be open every
day from 11am to 8pm.
