Taliban prisoner flees jail after killing warden in Afghanistan

QALAT, Afghanistan, Sept. 24, 2018 (BSS/XINHUA) – A Taliban detainee
managed to escape the state-jail, after disarming and killing jailer and
injuring two others, in Afghanistan’s southern province of Zabul, an official
said Monday.

“The incident happened late on Sunday evening, when a Taliban prisoner
covertly seized weapon of the jail-guard who was performing evening prayer in
Shar-e-Safa district of the province, killing him and wounding two others,”
Gul Islam Sayyal, the provincial government spokesman, told Xinhua.

Sayyal said that the wounded included the district anti-criminal police
chief and the attacker managed to flee, after setting ablaze the jail
reception.

Police started searching the nearby houses, where the escapee has been
feared to hide.
