42 drug peddlers held in Rajshahi
RAJSHAHI, Sept 22, 2018 (BSS)- Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have
arrested 42 alleged drug peddlers here while 40 of them were sentenced to
different terms of jail each by mobile courts on charge of taking drugs and
drug trading.
On tips-off, the elite force conducted drives in different areas of
Rajshahi, Chapainawabganj, Natore and Joypurhat districts on Friday and
arrested the people for their alleged involvement in drug trading or taking
drugs.
The RAB officials said they also seized 605 pieces of Yaba tablets, 1.7
kilograms of ganja, 15,000 liters of country-made liquor and four ample of
drug-injections and some other drugs-taking instruments from their
possession.
Later, the arrested were produced before four separate mobile courts.
After examining the evidences, the mobile courts sentenced 40 of them to
jail.
Regular cases were filed against two other detainees.
Saiful Islam, assistant superintendent of police working with RAB, said
different courts sent more than 50 drug addicts to jail during the last
couple of days.
