2 killed, 22 injured in cylinder blast in SW Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Sept 22, 2018 (BSS/XINHUA) – At least two women were killed and
22 others injured in a cylinder blast in Pakistan’s southwest sub-district
Turbat on Friday, local media reported.

According to the reports, the cylinder exploded when women were cooking
food in an open kitchen of a house in Shapak area of Turbat, a sub-district
in southwest Balochistan province.

At the time of the incident around 50 guests, including women and children,
had gathered in the house for a wedding ceremony.

Following the blast, a rescue team of Frontier Corps (FC), a paramilitary
force, rushed to the site and shifted the injured to a hospital.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of Pakistan
army, said in a statement that FC personnel rescued 22 members of a family,
mostly females, who suffered serious burn injuries.

FC troops immediately reached the site, provided first aid to victims and
coordinated air evacuation of 12 serious victims to the southern port city of
Karachi, the statement added.

Local media quoting hospital officials said that the death toll might rise
as some of the injured are in critical condition.
