One held with 4.640kg gold at Osmani airport
SYLHET, Sept 19, 2018 (BSS) – Armed Police Battalion (APBn) personnel arrested a passenger returned from Abu Dhabi along with 40 gold bars weighing 4.64 kilogram worth about Taka 1.90 crore from Osmani International Airport here.
The gold bars were seized from under a seat of the Abu Dhabi returned flight (BG-228) that landed at the airport around 6.43am this morning, additional police super of APBn Joynul Abedin told BSS.
Police also arrested a passenger Zahid Mia as they found him on the seat under which the gold bars were recovered, he said, adding that after scrutinizing his passports they were confirmed that the seat was not fixed for him.
But, the APBn official confirmed that Zahid had visited Sylhet several times in last one month.
A case was lodged against him with Bimanbandar Police Station.
