On the occasion, a group of young journalists of the organisation started
the day through cutting a cake.

Prof Dr Muhammad Samad, DUJA president Asifur Rahman, its general secretary

He inaugurated the renovated Shaheed Chisti Library at DUJA office
commemorating Shaheed Shah Chisti Helalur Rahman, a journalist and a DU
student killed by the Pakistani Army on the fateful night of March 25, 1971
at the then Iqbal Hall.

Appreciating the significant roles of the university correspondents, Prof
Akhtaruzzaman said DUJA members always uphold objective journalism and play
crucial role in the campus.

“DUJA is the strength of our university. People throughout the country came
to know about all the important activities of Dhaka University through its
reports. I hope that this prestigious organisation will continue its
activities upholding honesty and objectivity,” said the VC.

While visiting the library, DU Pro-VC Muhammad Samad urged the young
journalists to read the articles of Rabindranath Tagore and keep all these
books to enrich themselves.

The organisation started its journey with only 13 young journalists on
September 19 in 1985.
