Political beneficiaries use social media to create unrest: Hanif
DHAKA, Sept 18, 2018 BSS) – Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif today said politically beneficiaries are involved in creating violent and false contents in different social media.
“Muslims, religious educational institutions or Qawmi Madrasa are not involved in such activities rather a vested quarter including political beneficiaries are involved in creating such false contents in social media,” he told a seminar at a city hotel.
Move Foundation organized the seminar on “Extremism and false contents in social media: challenges and way to overcome”. Brigadier General Ziaul Ahsan presented the keynote paper, while Dr Manjur Ahmad Chowdhury conducted it.
Canadian High Commissioner in Dhaka Benoit Pr,fontaine, former Chief Information Commissioner Professor Dr Golam Rahman, Islami Oikky Jote leader Altaf Hossain, Kolyan Party Chairman Major General (Retd) Mohammad Ibrahim and AL Deputy Publicity and Publication Secretary Aminul Islam Amin, among others, took part in the discussion.
Hanif said BNP and Jamaat are the political beneficiaries of the incidents occurred in Ramu and Ukhia of Cox’s Bazar and Brahmanbaria in the name of religion after assuming of power by the present government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
He said they (BNP-Jamaat) had also spread rumors in social media during the quota reform movement and the students’ movement for safe road.
He urged all to be more careful while using social media.
