DHAKA, Sept 18, 2018 (BSS) – State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroz Chumki today said the government is carrying out massive activities to establish dignity of women.

“There were many challenges in the way of establishing women’s rights and dignity in the country. But now the situation has improved,” she said, addressing an award giving ceremony at Shilpakala Academy auditorium here.

Department of Women Affairs and Dhaka divisional commissioner office awarded five best Joyita (women) in Dhaka division through the function chaired by Dhaka Divisional Commissioner K M Ali Azam, said an official release here.

When measurers were taken for holding direct election for women at the Union Parishad level, many negative aspects had surfaced, Chumki said, adding that now women are serving in all positions without any kind of hindrance.

“The participation of women in politics has been ensured from the grassroots level to the national level,” she said.
