Aman cultivation exceeds target in Manikganj
MANIKGANJ, Sep 17, 2018 (BSS) – The cultivation of Aman paddy exceeded
the target in all seven upazilas of the district during the current season.
The Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) sources said the target of
cultivation of Aman was fixed on 28,448 hectares of land in the district with
a production target of 34,138 metric tons of rice. However, Aman was
cultivated on a total of 29,950 hectares of land in the district which is
1502 hectares above the fixed target.
The Aman cultivators are expecting bumper production in the district as
there is adequate rain water everywhere and the Aman seedlings are growing
well.
DAE office sources said Aman is cultivated in the district as 3rd crop.
Most of the Boro lands have been used for Aman cultivation for getting extra
rice mainly fodder for cows.
