Price fall in large-caps drives stocks down

DHAKA, Sept 17, 2018 (BSS) – Stock markets closed on Monday of the week
with downward trend due mainly to price fall in large-cap securities.

The falling major sectors were textile, financial institutions, travel and
leisure, telecommunication and insurance. A total of 176 securities of the
large-cap group moved down due to lower activities.

The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with
20.37 points down at 5,443.81. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also
followed the same trend with 4.56 points down at 1,260.66 and with 8.66
points down at 1,902.42.

The daily trade fell to 16.41 crore shares from Sunday’s 17.36 crore shares
and the day’s trade value at DSE decreased to Taka 696.95 crore from Taka
804.33 crore of the previous session.

At DSE, out of the day’s 338 securities, prices of 84 securities closed
higher against 214 losing issues.

The major gaining issues were CAPMIBBLMF, Intech, Fine Foods, KPCL and
Global Insurance while the major losing companies were VFSTDL, NHFIL,
Peninsula, BSCCL and Rupali Life.

KPCL topped the turnover list followed by Active Fine, Ifad Autos, UPGDCL
and Saiham Tex.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with
downward trend with its major CASPI 113.50 points down at 16,760.33.

At CSE, 244 issues were traded. Of those, 53 closed higher and 172 closed
lower when 85.61 crore shares worth Taka 24.29 crore changed hands.
