Malaysia’s rubber production surges 36.3 pct on month in July

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept. 15, 2018 (BSS/Xinhua) — Malaysia’s natural rubber
production rose 36.3 percent month-on-month to 56,397 tonnes in July,
according to official statistics released Friday.

The production showed an increase of 2.1 percent on year-on-year basis,
Malaysian Statistics Department said in a statement.

Natural rubber exports for the month jumped 7.8 percent to 56,490 tonnes,
with half of them exported to China.

China remains the main export destination for Malaysian rubber as it
accounted for 52.4 percent of the total exports, followed by Germany’s 11.6
percent, Iran’s 7.6 percent, Finland’s 4.3 percent and the 2.5 percent of the
United States.

Domestic consumption of natural rubber stood at 44,192 tonnes, an increase
of 8.3 percent from 40,820 tonnes in June.
