Slovak held in Prague over alleged jihadist terror plot: prosecutor

PRAGUE, Sept 14, 2018 (BSS/AFP) – A Prague prosecutor said Friday he was
supervising investigations into a planned terror attack by a 25-year-old
Slovak described by local media as a jihadist who became a Muslim three years
ago.

The Slovak living in Prague — identified by media as Dominik K. — was
taken into custody in December 2017, said prosecutor Martin Bily, adding that
the investigation is still under way.

“During a home search, (police) found chemicals and other things important
for criminal proceedings,” Bily said in a press release.

If convicted, the man faces five to 15 years in prison for plotting a
terror attack and promoting terrorism, said Bily.

In his flat, police found chemicals, bomb construction manuals and
instructions on how to attach a bomb to a body or a car, but also propaganda
by the so-called Islamic State group including videos of executions by
jihadists, the broadsheet DNES said.

It added that the Slovak was the first jihadist in the Czech Republic ever
detained by police and charged with plotting a bomb terror attack.
