25 gold bars seized at Shahjajal airport
DHAKA, Sept 14, 2018 (BSS) – Customs intelligence last night seized 25
gold bars weighing 2.5 kg from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
“We recovered the gold bars hidden inside a carton full of zippers from
cargo village area at the airport around 11pm. The estimated cost of the
seized gold is Taka 1.25 crore,” Director General of Customs Intelligence and
Investigation Directorate Dr Md Shahidul Islam told BSS today.
The customs intelligence sources said the consignment came from
Singapore on Flight SQ-446 around 10:40pm.
“Acting on a tip-off, customs members raided the cargo village area and
opened two cartons full of zippers. We found 25 gold bars inside the
cartons,” the customs boss added.
Legal actions have been taken in this regard.
