Robber-cum-drug trader killed in Rangpur gunfight
RANGPUR, Sept 14, 2018 (BSS) – An alleged robber cum drug trader was
killed in a gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-13) in Radhakrishnapur
Rahamatpara (Pirjabad) area under Kotwali Thana here today.
“The deceased was identified as Shawkat Ghughu alias Ghughu Dakat, 33,
of Deodoba Dangirpar (Pirjabad) area under Kotwali Thana of Rangpur,”,” said
a RAB-13 press release issued here today by its Media Officer ASP Khondker
Golam Mortuza.
The shootout occurred when an operational team of RAB-13 came under gun
attacks of 3 to 4 drug traders during an anti-drug drive conducted there on
secret information in the early hours of today.
“When the shooting stopped, drug trader Ghughu Dakat was found laying on
the spot with bullet injury though his other cohorts could flee from the
scene,” the release said adding that one member of RAB-13 team was injured in
the incident.
The elite force rushed the injured person to Rangpur Medical College
Hospital where the attending physician declared him dead.
At least 13 criminal cases filed against Ghughu Dakat in connections
with committing robberies, murders, snatching and drug trading are now
pending with different police stations of the region.
“After searching the area, the elite force seized a foreign origin
pistol with one magazine and three rounds of live bullets, six kilogram of
ganja and 25 bottles of phensidyl syrup from the spot,” the release said.
