RAB detains bus driver over baby Akifa’s death
KUSHTIA, Sept 13, 2018 (BSS)- Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested the bus driver from Faridpur sadar upazila last night over the death of 13-month-old Akifa Yasmin who was hit by a Ganjeraj Paribhan bus in Kushtia town on August 28.
“A RAB-12 team arrested bus driver Mahid Mia alias Khokan, 35, from Faridpur sadar upazila,” RAB-12-CPC-1 Additional Commander (Kushtia) and Additional Superintendent of Police MM Mohamenur Rashid told newsmen at the Kushtia RAB-12 office today.
Akifa’s father filed a case with Kushtia Model police station against bus driver Khokon, its owner Joynal and supervisor Yunus on August 29. Akifa died on August 30, following two days of treatment at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) as she had slipped from her mother’s lap getting hit of the running bus.
