DHAKA, Sept 13, 2018 (BSS) – Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed said Bangladesh wants to move ahead maintaining harmonious relationship with all countries.

“Bangladesh would keep up its ongoing economic development by signing FTA with different countries after graduation from LDCs,” the minister told a meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Vietnam capital Hanoi, said a ministry press release.

In the Geo Strategic Session of the WEF, Tofail Ahmed said Bangladesh is moving ahead quickly in economic, social and all other sectors under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. “Those who once termed Bangladesh as a ‘bottomless basket’ are now branding it as the role model for all countries in the world.”

The commerce minister told the WEF President that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had decided to shelter the Rohingya people on humanitarian grounds, as they were forced out of their homeland.

He said Bangladesh hoped that the issue would be resolved soon with the help of the world community enabling the Rohingyas to return to their country.
