56 entrepreneurs of industrial sector receive CIP cards

DHAKA, Sept 13, 2018 (BSS) – The government has awarded 56 entrepreneurs
with commercially important person (CIP) (Industry) cards for their
outstanding performances in industrial sector in 2016.

Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu handed over the CIP cards among the
awardees at a function held at Sonargaon Hotel in the capital today, a
handout said.

Speaking on the occasion, Amu said the government is providing necessary
support to the entrepreneurs to set up their industries across the country.

“The government is giving priority to the local entrepreneurs in land
distribution to set up industries in the Special Economic Zones (SEZs),” he
added.

Among the 56 entrepreneurs, 48 received the status for their outstanding
performances in five categories of the industrial sector while eight got the
cards under the ex-officio category. Among the 48 businessmen, 25 received
CIP cards for large industries while 15 for medium industries, one for micro
industry and one for cottage industry.

Abdul Matlub Ahmed received CIP card as president of the Federation of
Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) while AK Azad received
it as president of the Bangladesh Chamber of Industries (BCI), M Siddiqur
Rahman as president of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters
Association (BGMEA), AKM Selim Osman as president of the Bangladesh Knitwear
Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA), Rupali Haque Chowdhury as
president of the Foreign Investors’ Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI),
Selima Ahmed as president of the Bangladesh Women Chamber of Commerce and
Industry (BWCCI), Tapan Chowdhury as president of the Bangladesh Textile
Mills Association (BTMA) and Mirza Nurul Gani Shovon as president of the
National Association of Small and Cottage Industries of Bangladesh (NASCIB).

Secretary-In-Charge of the Industries Ministry M Abdul Halim presided
over the award giving ceremony while president of Federation of Bangladesh
Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) M Shafiul Islam (Mohiuddin) were,
among others, present.
