DHAKA, Sept 13, 2018 (BSS) – Police overnight arrested the son-in-law of Bangabandhu’s convicted and executed killer Sultan Shahriar Rashid Khan under the ICT act for posting derogatory comments against the Father of the Nation and eulogizing his assailants.

“The Cyber Security and Crime Prevention unit of (our) Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) has arrested one person for uploading status in the social media eulogizing Bangabandhu’s assailants and making derogatory comments against him,” Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said in a statement.

The statement said Fuad Zaman was arrested last night from Hatirjheel area adding that he was the son in-law of sacked military colonel Sultan Shahriar Rashid Khan, who was hanged after his conviction in the Bangabandhu murder trial.

It said police also seized his mobile phone, Facebook account and the facebook groups he belonged to and produced him before a magistrate court with a petition seeking him to be remanded in their custody for seven days for interrogation.

Police said Zaman, husband of Shahriar’s daughter Shenaz Rashid Khan, could not accept his father-in-law’s judicial execution and “so he made the derogatory comments on his facebook status on the National Mourning Day on August 15, 2018, calling the carnage a ‘good work'”.

“He appreciated the killers,” the statement read.
