Three-day tree fair begins in Jamalpur
JAMALPUR, Sept 13, 2018 (BSS)- A three-day tree fair began at Melandaha
upazila in the district today aiming to encourage people to plant saplings in
their homesteads to save environment.
The Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE), Jamalpur, arranged the
tree fair on Upazila DAE Office premises.
A total of 13 stalls of various fruits, timber and medicinal trees were
set up in the fair.
A discussion also held at upazila parishad auditorium.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Tamim Al Yamin, Upazila Chairman AKM Habibur
Rahman Chan and Upazila Agriculture Officer Dr Mahfuzul Haque, among others,
spoke at the meeting.
The speakers at the meeting stressed the need for planting more fruit
bearing trees to meet vitamin deficiency among rural people.
Earlier in the day, a rally was brought out from upazila headquarters.
