Qamrul fears BNP may face Muslim League’s fate

DHAKA, Sept 11, 2018 (BSS) – Urging BNP to take part in the next general
election, Food Minister Advocate Qamrul Islam today expressed fear that the
party may face the fate of Muslim League if it does not participate in the
upcoming polls.

“If BNP takes part in the election they can at least play the role of
opposition party. But if it does not take part in the election it’s (BNP)
existence will become extinct. They may face worse consequences than Muslim
League. The election will be held in due time in accordance with the
constitution,” he told a discussion held at the Jatiya Press Club here.

Over BNP’s demands regarding participation in the next election, Qamrul
said, “BNP put forward some conditions, including resignation of the
incumbent government ?and release of Khaleda Zia. But the terms and
conditions are not justified.”

Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote arranged the discussion marking the 125th
birth anniversary of Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy.

Former state minister for home Advocate Shamsul Haque Tuku, MP, Advocate
Talukder Md Yunus, MP, Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ)
President Mollah Jalal, Secretary General Shaban Mahmood, AL leader Advocate
Balaram Poddar, Shah Alam, Orun sorker Rana, among others were attend and
Jote’s adviser Lion Chitta Ranjon Das presided over the discussion.
