TUNIS, Sept. 9, 2018 (BSS/Xinhua) – Tunisia’s trade deficit worsened in
the first eight months this year, reaching about 12.2 million dinars (4.36
U.S. dollars) against 10.1 million dinars during the same period last year,
the National Institute of Statistics (INS) said Saturday.

According to the INS, the imports value reached 38.5 billion dinars, up
20.3 percent compared with that of last year. The exports value reached 26.4
million dinars, up 20.3 percent.

Exports to the European Union, which accounts for 72.9 percent of the
total exports, grew by 17.7 percent, mainly because of export surpluses with
some countries, including Spain, Germany and France, with respective growth
of 60.4 percent, 22.6 percent and 16 percent.
