61 held in Satkhira
SATKHIRA, Sept 7, 2018 (BSS) – Police, in special drives arrested 61
persons including five activists of Jamaat-E-Islami from eight upazilas of
the district in last 12-hour ending at 8am this morning.
Police also seized 160 bottles of Phensidyl, 42 pieces of Yaba tablets,
one shutter gun and one round of bullet during the drives.
Sources with the district police said they were picked up from different
areas of the district.
During the drives, Satkhira Sadar police arrested 15 persons including
three activists of Jamaat-E-Islami and recovered 21 pieces of Yaba tablets in
an abandoned condition, Kalaroa Thana police arrested nine persons and
recovered 160 bottles of Phensidyl and 21 pieces of Yaba tablets in an
abandoned condition, Tala Thana police arrested eight persons, Kaliganj Thana
police arrested four persons, Shyamnagar Thana police arrested five persons
and recovered one shutter gun and one round of bullet in an abandoned
condition, Assasuni Thana police arrested 12 persons, Patkelghata Thana
police arrested five persons and Debhata Thana police arrested three persons
including two activists of Jamaat-E-Islami.
The arrested people are accused in several cases, including charges of
subversive activities, filed with different police stations in the district.
The arrested were sent to jail.
