Construction of ‘Polli Janapad’ buildings progressing fast: Ranga

DHAKA, Sept 6, 2018 (BSS) – The construction of ‘Polli Janapad’ buildings is going on in full swing across the country for developing the livelihood of rural people and to ensure modern civic facilities for them.

“One four-storey building has been constructing in each of the country’s eight divisions in the first phase. Each building will accommodate 240 families… Polli Unnayan Academy, Bogura, is implementing the project with an estimated cost of Taka 362.98 crore,” State Minister for Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD) and Cooperatives Md Mashiur Rahman Ranga said today.

He was addressing a meeting of Rural Development and Cooperatives Division on the evaluation of ongoing development programmes.

Senior Secretary of the division SM Golam Faruque and other senior officials were present in the meeting, said an official release.

Ranga said the project has been taken at the desire of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to prevent the misuse of farm land, ensure food security and reach modern housing facilities to the rural people.

He said there will be seven shades for domestic animals, biogas plant, reserve water tank and plant to produce fertilizer in every project. Training and loan facilities will also be available for the beneficiaries, he added.

Secretary Golam Faruque said the present government is implementing 29 projects through the Rural Development and Cooperatives Division to eliminate poverty and create employment opportunities.

He asked the project directors to monitor their respective projects closely.
