Jatri Kalyan Samity secretary arrested over extortion charge
DHAKA, Sept 6, 2018 (BSS)- Police today arrested secretary general of
Jatri Kalyan Samity, a welfare body for public transport passengers, from his
Narayanganj residence in connection with an extortion case.
“We arrested Mozammel Hoque Chowdhury, secretary of Jatri Kalyan Samity
from his Siddhirganj residence in Narayanganj early today in connection with
an extortion case,” officer-in-charge (OC) Dadan Fakir of Mirpur Model Police
Station told BSS.
A resident of Gudaraghat area under Shah Ali Police Station, Md Dulal,
road secretary of Mirpur Road Shramik Committee, filed the case with Mirpur
Model Police Station on September 4, he also said.
In the case details, it was alleged that Mozammel had demanded Taka 2
lakh as extortion from Dulal on September 3 last, he said, adding that Dulal
gave him Taka 10,000 to the arrestee on the same day.
