‘Judicious using practice vital to ensure equitable power to all’

RAJSHAHI, Sept 6, 2018 (BSS)- Ensuring judicious using practice of power and energy everywhere in the society has become indispensable for the sake of equitable supply of those to all.

Side by side with uses of the power and energy emphasis should be given on promoting renewable energies like solar power and biogas to lessen the gradually mounting pressure on the fossil fuel and energies.

The observation came at a pre-rally discussion by some experts concerned who urged all the government and non-government entities to come forward and work together to make the country self-reliant on the power generation sector.

Northern Electricity Supply Company (NESCO) Limited organized the programme at its office compound here today to mark the inauguration of National Power and Fuel Week- 2018.

Commissioner of Rajshahi division Nur-Ur-Rahman addressed the discussion as chief guest while Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police AKM Hafiz Akter and NESCO Director Syed Golam Ahmed spoke as special guests.

The meeting was told that the main goal of the week is to highlight the government’s various activities, success and achievement in the power and energy sector among people.

It also said the Awami League-led government has achieved success in the power and energy sectors and the government is going to celebrate 20,000 MW power generation capacity during the observance of the week.

Commissioner Nur-Ur-Rahman said power supply is indispensable and there is no alternative to it for upholding the country’s development and production. For this reason, the present government has attached highest priority to the sector and has been implementing massive and effective projects. He urged the zone officials and staffs to attain confidence of the clients in general as they are the vital force of the sector and said all the service delivery activities should be transparent and accountable.

Listing various need-oriented measures undertaken by the present government for uplifting the power sector, he said more or less the country has been freed from power shortage at present.

Rahman said the present government has attained success in reducing gap between the power supply and demand freeing the public from the load shedding problem.
