Stocks close up

DHAKA, Sept 5, 2018 (BSS)- Stocks rebounded Wednesday as all indices on
the country’s two bourses–Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock
Exchange (CSE)– witnessed marginal rise with active participation of
investors.

Both the turnover and trade volume went up on the DSE as the turnover
increased to Taka 811.75 crore from Tuesday’s Taka 716.99 crore and daily
trade jumped to 18.28 crore shares from Tuesday’s 17.04 crore shares.

The DSEX, a key index of the DSE, gained 9.43 points to close at 5562.24.
Two other indices followed the same trend as the blue-chip DS30 gained 5.29
points to settle at 1955.62 while the Shariah DSES 8.96 points to close at
1279.97.

Gainers outperformed the losers at DSE floor as out of the 336 trade
issues 156 closed higher against 131 losing issues.

Top five gaining issues were Oimex Electrode, Peninsula Chittagong, Easter
Housing, Ibn Sina Pharma and BSRM while the top five losers were SEML Lecture
Equity Management, Provati Insurance, CAPM BDBL Mutual Fund, Jatana Insurance
and Premier Leasing.

In the port city, CSE closed the day with upward trend as the All Price
Share Index (CASPI) gained 71.90 points to close at 17143.

Out of 247 traded issues, 111 closed up against 95 losing issues. A total
of 96.30 lakh share and mutual funds worth Taka 33.32 crore exchanged hand on
the day.
