Nepal take on Bhutan in crucial group match of SAFF Championship tomorrow

DHAKA, Sept 5, 2018 (BSS)- Nepal take on Bhutan in their crucial second
group A match of the SUZUKI SAFF Championship schedule to be held tomorrow
(Thursday) at Bangabandhu National Stadium.

The match kicks off at 4 pm.

It will be a must win match for both Nepal and Bhutan to stay in the
championship race following their first match defeats in the tournament
opening matches.

Nepal lost to Pakistan by 1-2 goals while Bhutan suffered a 0-2 goals
defeat to Bangladesh. Nepalese skipper talking to the reporters said team
still had chance to progress to knockout stage.

Maharjan, who pushed Pakistan defender unnecessarily inside the box and
awarded Pakistan a spot kick, said he has no plan to retire from football
right now.

Maharjan will create history if he plays against Bhutan tomorrow. He will
become the first Nepalese booter to earn highest caps of 69. Former skipper
Raju Shakya had played 68 times for Nepal.

He said it feels great to have played 68 times for Nepal and wished to
continue for his country as long as my body permits.

Commenting on Pakistan match, the 27-year old Nepalese defender said, the
match was very important for them but sadly they lost the match as they
wasted so many chances during the proceeding and couldn’t control the game in
the dying moment.

Anything can happen if they able to win the two remaining matches, they
would go through. There is no negativity in the team. The problem is that
they don’t have consistency in performance, he added.
