Minhaz emerges unbeaten champion in rating chess
DHAKA, Sept 1, 1018 (BSS)-IM Mohammad Minhaz Uddin of Bangladesh Navy emerged unbeaten champion in the Open FIDE Rapid Rating Chess Tournament that was held at Bangladesh Chess Federation Hall-Room on Friday.
IM Minhaz earned 6.5 points to clinch the title.
Three players earned 6 points each in tie-breaking system. GM Ziaur Rahman of Saif Sporting Club finished runner-up, M Sharif Hossain of Bangladesh Navy became 3rd and WFM Sharmin Sultana Shirin of Sultana Kamal Smirity Pathagar became 4th.
Md. Abzid Rahman of Janata Bank Officer Welfare Society became 5th and Feroz Ahmed of Uttara Central Chess Club became 6th with 5.5 points each.
Eleven players earned 5 points each. In tie-breaking system 4 players among them achieved 7th to 10th position. They are CM Ikramul Haq Siam of Titas Club, FM Syed Mahfuzur Rahman of Janata Bank Officer Welfare Society, Habibur Rahman Sohel of Leonine Chess Club and M. Abu Hanif of Sonali Bank Sports and Recreation Club.
The event was held in 7 rounds Swiss-League system and 92 players participated on the day-long meet.
Cash prize of Taka 50,000.00 were given to the winners.
