Mayor Khokon inaugurates five STS in Dhanmondi

DHAKA, Aug 28, 2018 (BSS) – Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor
Mohammad Sayeed Khokon today inaugurated five Secondary Transfer Stations
(STS) for dumping wastes and filths beside Kalabagan playground in city’s
Dhanmondi area.

The mayor has also announced Dhanmondi area free from wastes, saying,
“With the introduction of the STS, no waste or container carrying waste would
be seen in the entire Dhanmondi and Kalabagan area.”

Speaking on the occasion, local lawmaker Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor
Taposh thanked the DSCC mayor for introducing such modern waste management
system and requested him to take necessary measures for removing wastes two
times a day.

Welcoming the initiative, eminent columnist Syed Abul Maksud said, “The
newly constructed environment friendly STS would play a vital role in
modernizing the city’s waste management system.”

“It is impossible for city corporation alone to make the city free from
waste. The city dwellers should come forward to make the endeavor a success,”
he opined.

Among others, DSCC’s Chief Executive Officer Khan Mohammad Billal and
local Awami League leaders and activists were present on the occasion.
