Natore road mishap: vehicles owners, drivers sued

NATORE, Aug 26, 2018 (BSS)- Police have lodged a case against the owners
and drivers of both the vehicles involved in Saturday’s road accident here
that left 15 people dead and many others injured.

Yousuf Ali, assistant sub-inspector of Lalpur Police Station, filed the
case last night.

Nazrul Islam Jewel, officer-in-charge (OC) of the police station, said
among the bodies, 14 were handed over to their respective family members and
an unidentified body was sent to Natore Sadar Hospital morgue today.

Senior officials of the district administration and police have visited the
site. A three-member committee headed by an additional district magistrate
has been formed to investigate the incident.

Nazrul Islam said 15 people were killed and 30 others injured when a bus
collided head-on with a human hauler (Laguna) in Clickmore area on the
Natore-Pabna highway under Boraigram upazila of the district yesterday
afternoon.

“The accident occurred when the Rajshahi-bound bus from Pabna collided
head-on with a Laguna in the area around 3.45 pm as its driver lost control
over the steering,” he said adding that the bus driver fled after the
incident.

Shamsur Noor, officer-in-charge (OC) of Banpara Highway Police Station,
said 20 passengers of the bus were injured when it hit with a roadside tree
after smashing the Laguna.

Police remain active to bring the accused to book as soon as possible, the
OC added.

Instantly, the district administration has announced to give Taka 20,000 to
the family of each deceased and Taka 10,000 to the injured people, said
Shahina Khatun, deputy commissioner of Natore.
