36 rivers register rise, 54 fall

DHAKA, Aug 24, 2018 (BSS) – Water levels in 36 rivers stations monitored by
Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) have marked rises and 54 stations
recorded falls.

Among the 94 monitored water level stations, three are steady while one is
above danger level, a bulletin issued by FFWC said here today.

The Brahmaputra-Jamuna and Ganges-Padma Rivers are in falling trend which
may continue in next 48 hours.

The major rivers of the Upper Meghna are in rising trend which may
continue in next 24 hours.

A total of 220 mm rainfall was recorded during last 24-hour ending at 6 am
today at Nakuagaon, 154 mm at Gaibandha, 123 mm at Panchagarh, 81 mm at
Jariajanjail, 75 mm at Dewanganj and 70 mm at Sunamganj, 66 mm at Chilmari
and Bogra, 64 mm at Jamalpur and 50 mm at Lorergarh.
