776 Eid congregations to be held in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Aug 21, 2018 (BSS) – The authorities concerned have completed all preparations for holding the holy Eid-ul-Azha congregations at 776 Eidgahs, Mosques, grounds and open places in all eight upazilas in the district tomorrow, officials said.

The district and police administrations and law enforcement agencies have taken adequate steps to ensure peaceful celebrations of the second largest religious festivity of the Muslims by deploying police, Ansar-VDP and RAB forces and volunteers.

The national flag will be hoisted atop all government, semi-government and private buildings and mosques, Eidgahs, streets and major buildings to be illuminated and decorated with colourful miniature flags and banners inscribed with Eid Mubarak.

Besides, the district administrations and the authorities concerned have taken steps to serve improved diets to the inmates of hospitals, Rangpur Central Jail, Shishu Paribars, orphanages and vagrant welfare centres.

Meanwhile, Rangpur City Corporation local administrations have completed preparations to hold over 150 Eid-ul-Azha congregations in the city this year.

The main Eid-ul-Azha congregation will be held at Rangpur Collectorate Eidgah in the city at 8:30 am. Alternatively, the main Eid-ul-Azha congregation will be held twice at Rangpur Court Jam-e-Mosque at 8:45 am and 9:15 am if the weather remains unfavourable.

Former President and Special Envoy to the Prime Minister and Jatiya Party Chairman Alhaj Hussein Muhammad Ershad will participate in the main Eid congregation.

City Mayor Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa, Divisional Commissioner Kazi Hasan Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner Enamul Habib, Police Super Mizanur Rahman, Acting President of district Awami League (AL) Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, politicians, professionals and elite will participate in the main congregation.

The first Jamat of Eid-ul-Azha will be held at Rangpur Police Lines ground at 8 am and, alternately, at Police Lines Jam-e-Mosque in the city at the same time under inclement weather.

The major Eid congregations will held at Nasirabad Ekramia Jam-e-Mosque, Kamal Kachhna Baro Jam-e-Mosque, Karamotia Jam-e-Mosque, Munshipara Eidgah, Mulatol Alia Madrasa, Shalbon Mistripara Jam-e-Mosque, Satmatha Jam-e-Mosque, Dhap Staff Quarter Jam-e-Mosque, Central Bus Terminal Jam-e Mosque, Khotkhotia Jam-e-Mosque, Mahiganj Shahi Mosque and Alamnagar Aftabia Eidgah ground between 8:30am and 9am in the city.

Outside the city, bigger Eid Jamats will be held at Badarganj Central Eidgah, Pirgachha Karbala Eidgah, Pirgachha JN High School, Kawnia Central Eidgah, Mithapukur Central Eidgah, Taraganj Chowpathi Eidgah, Pirganj Central Eidgah and Alambiditor Paikan Baro Jam-e-Mosque between 8:30 am and 10am.
