BTRC fines three ISPs TK 9 lakh
DHAKA, Aug 19, 2018 (BSS) – Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has fined three internet service providers (ISPs) Taka 9 lakh for violating licensing conditions and directives.
The telecom regulator found that the three nationwide, central zone and Cyber Caf, categories ISP license holders provided bandwidth to the unlicensed ISPs.
BTRC by issuing letter on August 14 directed the three firms to deposit the fined amount within 10 working days.
The three ISPs are: Circle Network by Taka 5 lakh, Media and Multimedia by Taka 3 lakh and Mega City Link by Taka 1 lakh.
BTRC said if they (ISPs) failed to pay the fined amount within the stipulated time, legal action would be taken under the Telecommunication Act, 2001.
