Govt for proper management of animal waste
DHAKA, Aug 19, 2018 (BSS) – The Ministry of Environment, Forest and
Climate Change today urged all the authorities concerned to remove the waste
of sacrificial animals during Eid-ul-Azha in sustainable way aiming to check
pollution.
The call came from an inter-ministerial meeting held at the ministry
recently with Environment, Forest and Climate Change Secretary Abdullah Al
Mohsin Chowdhury in the chair, said an official release today.
As per the decision taken at the meeting, the Department of Environment
(DoE) has taken a programme to distribute three lakh leaflets with a view to
making people aware of the proper management of animal waste.
District administration and the subordinate bodies of the DoE and the
Local Government Division will distribute leaflets across the country through
district information offices.
Representatives of both Dhaka North and South City Corporations at the
meeting urged city dwellers to sacrifice animals in designated spots.
As part of the waste management, plastic bags will be distributed free of
cost through ward commissioners in the city, they said.
